Description:

We will explore and study elements of Theatre Arts – dramatic literature, performance traditions, acting, directing, playwriting, production, and design -- from the standpoints of both viewer and participant. This course introduces you to the various elements that comprise the art of the theatre. We will look at the different jobs, forms of collaboration,and creative skills that go into creating theatrical performances. We will also consider how to read and analyze dramatic texts for production, and we will explore the different models and forms of theatre that exist around the world, the many ways they communicate with their audiences, the variety of subject they can address, and the various roles theatre plays in different historical and cultural contexts. Offering a broad overview of the art, from both theartist’s and the audience’s perspective, with opportunities for you to try your own hand at creative work,the course intends to make you a more knowledgeable and appreciative theatre-goer and perhaps inspire you to pursue your own creative path.

Improv is an essential life-skill for anyone who needs to speak or perform in front of others. Whether you are just starting out or experienced, this course will take your performing skills to the next level.

In this course, you will explore the art of spontaneous creation and learn how to think on your feet like never before. Through a series of fun and challenging exercises and games you will learn how to trust your instincts, make bold choices, and embrace the unexpected. You will also learn the fundamentals of characters, scenes, and storytelling, all while building confidence and stage presence. At the conclusion of the course, you will have the opportunity to showcase your talents in front of a live audience, culminating in a final performance that will leave you feeling empowered and inspired.

Description:

Each actor will work on two audition monologues and an audition scene.  Selected monologues and scenes will be used to create 2 evenings of performance that showcase their talents. The final projects will be videoed and may be used for their reels.
